Father John Dinello, also known as Fr. John. Is new to the Troy Hill area, but not a new city resident. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Art & Design from La Roche College and has also earned a Master’s Degree in Church History and a Master’s in Divinity Studies. He has worked as a school teacher and also served the United States Army as a Reservist and an Active Duty soldier, holding the rank of Major as a Chaplain, until he retired in 2010. He is the Pastor of Most Holy Name and Saint Anthony Chapel here in Troy Hill. He currently is a member of the following organizations: The Lions Club, the American Legion, the V.F.W., Catholic War Vets, the St. Anthony Lyceum and the Knights of Columbus. He continues to serve on the Alumni Board of La Roche College, and the John Heinz History Center Italian-American Program. He is very excited to work for the good of Troy Hill. Most recently, he has worked closely with Councilman Bill Peduto on many Pittsburgh initiatives, Council President Darlene Harris, Commander Rochelle Brakney, zone 1, and Norbert Kowalski from the Federal Reserve Police. With the help of the concerned citizens from the previous neighborhoods where he lived, they were able to establish good business and community relations with the area Business Associations and Development Corporations to complete many needed projects. He presided over the Board that established a permanent Memorial to the Fallen Officers four years ago, and raised $200,000 for sustainment of the memorial site. He has also helped to establish the Bloomfield Neighborhood Leadership Coalition to stop drug activity in our city neighborhoods and promote sports and community programs for children.
